Maple Swamp Conservation Area, Sandwich
The Maple Swamp conservation lands consist of 700 acres of upland property that are composed of 25 different parcels.
Located on the Service Road between old exits 3 and 4 from Route 6, Maple Swamp also has some of the most diverse topography on Cape Cod.
Reaching from 40 to 250 feet above sea level, Maple Swamp has spectacular views north across Cape Cod Bay to Provincetown and south to Vineyard Sound.
Located across Chase Road from the West Barnstable Conservation Area. There are over 40 miles of riding for people looking for an extended ride.
You will do some climbing here.
The area contains many old motorcycle trails that are not open to mountain bikes. Or to motorcycles. But they appear on the map so that you won't get lost.
The Trailfporks map above indicated these with broken lines.
Also on the Trailforks map are the new trails that CC NEMBA created behind the Oak Ridge School for the Town's after school mountain programs.
The best access is from the large parking lot on Service Road.
Check out the new warm-up track beside the parking lot.
Vegetation on the property includes oaks, pines, holly, hickory and maple trees.
Note: The Cape Cod Chapter of NEMBA is working closely with the town to expand mountain bike access to the single track trails.
Please respect any signage stating \"No Bikes\"
CC NEMBA recently installed a beautiful deck at Maple Swamp's highpoint, Sam Nye Mountain.
The bike trails leading to it have also been completed.
