2025 Youth Cycle Project Race Series Recap

10/01/2025

This summer the Youth Cycle Project brought back their beloved race series.   The series features a race each month of June, July and August, the perfect way to keep families engaged in riding as a community while school is out of session.

Sponsored by Centre Street Cycles, the series offers a category for every youth rider, from strider bikes to big kids racing hard for multiple laps.  The series saw a core group of families show up for every race, with more joining towards the end of the season.

This season the series was held exclusively at Topsham Pond Trails, with permission from Topsham Parks and Recreation, to not only hold the event, but once again open the gates to park right by the Pumptrack, which happened to be the course for the strider categories.  Six Rivers first began building this trail system in 2019, with the completion of the Pumptrack and expansion of the Gone Fishin’ loop over the following years.

With YSP working registration to welcome riders and check them in for the race, Centre Street Cycles and Six Rivers volunteers worked together to mark multiple courses and act as course marshals throughout the event. You could hear giggling across the forest as the younger categories made their way through a bit of a challenging course for newer riders and smaller wheel sizes. While lacking much elevation, the Gone Fishin’ trail is rich in roots (which is why we look forward to our upcoming project with Maine Trail Builders!)

Stay tuned for updates for the 2026 Youth Cycle Project Race Series!
